guides, interactive links, prayers, assignments, and of course many pictures of your children learning at school. There
is a new feature (Blog) designed to keep you informed of weekly activities in the classroom. The site is updated weekly (sometimes
more) so check it often. Add it to your favorites!. We hope you find it helpful and invite you to sign the guest book on this
page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

BIRTHDAYS
If your child's birthday
is during the summer, we will be celebrating his/her birthday on their half birthday. Keep this in mind during the school
year.

Reading News:
Each Monday be looking for a vocabulary sheet to come home. This
is a half sheet of paper and has the vocabulary words on for the week. Quizzes over these words are on Friday.
In third grade we believe reading continues
to be a very important skill as it is often a determining factor in our understanding of other subjects. We use
the Harcourt Trophies series for our Language Arts program. Trophies provides students with a wealth of opportunities
to read a variety of high-quality nonfiction as well as fiction literature.
Research
has shown that reading aloud to children contributes to their motivation, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, knowledge base,
literary understanding, familiarity with literary terms, and a lifetime love of literature. Each Wednesday
your child should bring home their reading book. This would be an opportunity to help your child gain a love for
reading by reading the story selection for the week together and discussing it.
Planner
This year your child will be using a planner. We believe this is a great first step in helping your
child become a more responsible student. The planners are designed to develop the skills of organization and
goal setting so work can be completed on time. In order for these things to be achieved, we need your help. Each
day, until your child becomes familiar with filling out the planner, we will help them. At the end of the day, any homework
that is finished will have a check mark placed by it. If it is not complete it may have a circle around it. Your
child's teacher will initial at the bottom. We ask that you look at the planner and sign it each evening.
Check with your child on any unchecked items in the planner to make sure he/she has completed these.
Harcourt Religion
Do you want a way you can discuss the
Sunday readings with your children? Do you want to be able to review what is being discussed in class? Do you want seasonal
and prayer ideas? If youanswered "yes" to any of these, then click on Harcourt Religion above to be connected
to their link. This link can offer all of this and more. After clicking on this link, click on K-8 "Call to Faith"
then Parents. The interactive chapter reviews and unit reviews are great for reviewing for a test. The Lectionary link provides
the Sunday readings with reflection questions for adults and children. It also provides activities that can be done at home
that relate to this reading.
